Can a blood pregnancy test be wrong? I had one 2 days ago, i am now 36 days since my last period and wondered whether there is any possibility that the test could be wrong? I had what seemed like implantation bleeding about 1 week ago, and i have been having lower abdominal pain, but its not the same as period pain as i usually get that really bad and i know when i have my period and it definately isnt that. Is there a chance that i could still be pregnant or not?

I personally know two women who had incorrect beta tests. Both were friends who went to the hospital (one for surgery, another to the ER for an allergic attack) and both got blood results that said the HCG level was 0. The one who went to the ER refused a medication that could be dangerous to a fetus b/c she had had a positive urine test at home that morning. When she went in for her official blood test few days later, her number was good and she was pregnant with twins. The other had no idea she was pregnant until a few weeks AFTER the surgery, when she found out she had been six weeks pregnant when her original blood test had been done.

It is scary to me how often those beta tests are wrong. (BTW-these events happened in two different states at two different hospitals, so it is not just one negligent hospital at fault).

So it could be wrong, but I am guessing your body is just going through some hormonal changes. I would recommend taking an at home urine test (First Response Early ismy favorite). That should let you know accurately at this point. Your symptoms sound like the same ones I had when my cycle was changing a few years ago,due to a little weight gain and stress. An HPT should let you know, so test away. I ope it works out!

NO they can not be wrong. If you are having lower abdominal pain then I highly suggest seeing your doctor for a pelvic exam asap.
I had missed my cycle in Oct, went to the doc he said I was fine, Nov normal cycle, Dec got pregnant, Jan had a loss and went back to the docs, he did a sono and sent me home again, so I called my family doctor for an ER appt and he did a pelvic exam to find out I had PID. And extreme bacterial infection!!!
So since you have had a negative blood test and its been over a month since your last cycle, NO you are not pregnant..however there are other things going on that you need to get resolved before you do get pregnant...also to let you know a bacterial infection can cause problems, miscarriage and preterm labor if not detected!

Most blood tests are right, but there is always the possibility of it being wrong. I would wait a few more days and get tested again. If it's still negative talk to your doctor, there could be something else causing you to be late. Good luck!
