In the settings for zone alarm you can go in and change permissions from the list. If there is a program being blocked just give it a green light so that it will be allowed.

Zone alarm is the best free firewall, you control what is allowed and is not. when z/a interface is open on your desktop, click on the programs list and allow the services that you want to run. it is best because you control it, and it does not decide who or what applications are allowed access to the internet. stick with it and do a couple of the tutorials that it offers, you will soon get used to it and then you will see why it is so good from a security point of view. mail me if you need further help with it, o.k

If AVG does not incorporate a firewall then i opt to propose COMODO Firewall professional (this is definitely unfastened yet might want for use by using extremely of a complicated person) or Ashampoo Firewall (it is physically powerful for the not so stepped forward person) COMODO will frequently pop up considering the undeniable fact that's extremely safeguard approximately each and every connection that is going by using your laptop. this might or is probably not a foul element yet while setting up classes it might annoy you approximately accepting connections. Ashampoo Firewall is physically powerful for novices and could not pop up as plenty yet meaning that it is likewise not as safeguard as COMODO. it remains a reliable firewall although. don't get Zonealarm. they're now not the ideal interior the business enterprise.

I had serious issues with zone alarm and went to the c: prompt and deleted anything that had zone in it. then I installed new software - not zone alarm. Zone Alarm would not uninstall and that is why I needed to go to the C: prompt. Comodo is not a first class sofftware.

right click, select control panel I think it;s called, you;ll get to a screen with ticks, crosses and question marks. Change anything you're unsure of to a question mark, it will ask you next time it is encountered.
