no transmission fluid do`s not produce the same results. marvel oil will penetrate the metal and remove the rust off of frozen rings and timing chains. Tran's fluid wont. my 26 foot Owens boat was sitting in dry storage for five and a half years and the motor froze up do to rust in the motor. my mechanic used marvels on it and had it freed up in four hours. i had it running in about two more hours. it smoked for three minutes and ran strong after that. the boat had filled with water when in storage and the motor was under water for part of the time. marvels saved that 1961 Corvette 283qu. motor from the junk pile trans fluid would have sent it to the junk pile.

if youre looking to clean out the engine it is ok to use transmission fluid. drain the oil put on a new filter add transmission fluid to the proper level and let the car run for about 5 minutes. drain it out put another filter on flush some oil through and then add the new oil. the reason it works is because there are some many detergents in the transmission fluid. oil also has detergents to clean varnish and such but not as much as tranny fluid. but to answer your question it is not the same as marvel mystery oil

The other guy is right. Trans oil will ruin seals, gunk up your engine, and won't help at all. There is a reason engine flush is formulated the way it is!
