Politics is current as the laws passed three years ago begin to have an impact .
Thats why you often see people reference past actions and programs . The effect of most things the government does are not felt for several years .

It would seem that by now we would have a business model that works .

Flexible enough to meet the needs and still under control by the people .

If they told you that you would be paying for this war until your death and your children's children's death would you have said Sure go ahead and spend a few trillion dollars .

We have some major problems that politicians refuse to tackle .

Politics can be current, or they can be historical.

I prefer historical politics because I dig on history. The politics of the past are also far more intringuing (and more dirty - believe it!).

Well the recent past is often relevant. I would say the last 10-15 years is often relevant as policies made in those years are in effect still.

But ye I understand what your saying... move forward.
