"Nobody replaced them gradually, in the last 4 administrations. Ronald Reagan fired them all when he came into office, it took 73 days to replace them. Bush 41 fired 90 of 93, took 61 days to replace. Clinton fired 92 of 93, took 120 days to replace, Bush 43 fired 91 of 93, took 76 days to replace."

All nonsense answers so far.

Clinton did not fire Michael Chertoff (Bush's Homeland Security Secretary) who was the federal attorney in New Jersey. New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley forcefully argued with Janet Reno not to fire Chertoff.

All of them were fired. However what had happened was that there had been a delay in the "firing" per se of one of them- Jay B Stephens of D.C. who had been investigating Rostenkowski. He left in March 1993 and the investigation was continued by the new replacement

From what I've seen, all 93 were fired across the board.

One or more may have been re-hired as individuals.

If you have a reference that says only 92 were fired, please I'd love to see it.
