Hi,
I saw your question about your daughters 12th birthday and thought this may help ... I'm 17 and have some how become my family's party organizer. I recently organized a party for my fiances cousin (she just turned 12)! We didn't have much money and decided because it wasn't a major birthday (10, 13, 16, 18, 21 etc.) that we would just do something at home and it was AMAZING!!! the total budget was £30ish but everybody loved it, adults and children ... the secret? games! we played about 10-15 games, not so many traditional games as they are aimed at younger kids really and every 12 year old desperately wants to be older and musical statues just isn't cool! Some of the all time favorite games were traditional games with a twist ... like pass the parcel with jokey forfeits inside. I had an outside slumber party when I was 12. That only works if the birthday is in the summer time! Set up some tents and have fun telling scare storys!!!
Also, try having an party at some place she like.. (roller skating, bowling,...)
Maybe an paint party.. Have paint and paper and have an cake that looks like paint was just throne on it!!!!!!
Hope this helps!!!
Good luck!!!

Maybe you could do a sleepover with some friends or just a small family get together and play games (board games) (if you have a Xbox, Wii etc. There are family games on there too.
