Heh, brings back memories of last year. A kid was clogged up past his small intestine from encopresis. That's beside the point.

Constipation...you didn't explain it too well. How long has it been since you've gone. If its more than 3 or 4 days, see your doctor. You don't need to immediately, it's not an emergency or anything. Also, it's not only a woman thing.

Anyways, a high fiber diet can help your digestive health. You can also suppliment it with laxitives found at grocery and most pharmacy/drug stores. Good examples are Ducolax, Senekot, and even Ex-Lax. If it's been more than a week, buy a rectal enema at any drug or grocery store. This will clear you out right away. If it's been a week and a half or more, you need to go to your hospital to get yourself cleared out.

Remember to drink your 8 glasses a day and maybe more because your stools will be harder. More water in your body will help soften up the stools, easing the pain when it comes out finally.

If your constipation is chronic (long term) then let your doctor know. You don't want to have chronic constipation untreated.

Good luck and I hope this helped! Anything I missed or any questions you have, get with your doctor!

Even if you are eating the identical meals, there are differences that affect digestion:
- who finishes first?
- do you walk around a bit after eating or sit and watch TV?
- clothing with belts or elastic at the waist?
- take a newspaper to the bathroom with you?

Choosing particular high-fiber cereals or specific fruits/vegetables (or bread) will influence the digestibility.

if you don't mind a man chiming in here. My wife and mother in law are the same way. My wife and her take dulcolax. It may be a diet thing or possible an exercise thing. sounds weird but I notice I "go" better when I have done abdominal exercises regularly.
drink lots of water, eat more fiber. I hope that helps in some way.

No, it actually happens within both sexes, but is more common with women. This is probably all the information you might need on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constipation

OK - you made it into the most disgusting question finals. You're in there with the 3 girls asking about their period discharges.

If you and your mom are taking vitamins with iron that could be the reason.

This can also happen if you are dieting.
