Positive songs that let 1 know the worst is in the past and they are loved now. Rock or soft rock.?

My BF's EX treated him very poorly for 4 yrs. Controlling, dominating, not letting him be his own person, have his own voice or opinion. I give him his freedom to still be all those things yet be apart of a wonderful special bond also. No one deserves to be a prisoner of love. Just looking for some songs to express to him that the worst is over. He is free to live and be happy now. To live a life full of love with an equal not a mother. That he'll never have another bad day. But a lifetime of paradise. Rock, soft pop...pretty much anything but country. Ex.. Rob Thomas "Little Wonders"
