I have the same thing, and the doctor said its the baby. Sometimes I can actually feel her little feet moving up and down my ribs, but usually it's just a throbbing pain. The baby is getting big and running out of room, so she's stretching out and it hurts!
Supposedly once you "drop" this pain will lessen.
EDIT: Pain in the right side of your ribs can be a sign of pre-eclampsia. I called my doc about it almost a month ago, and they had me come in. They said that generally, pain in the ribs is not the ONLY sign you will have if you have pre-eclampsia (they also said that the pain will be debilitating w/ pre-eclampsia). If you swell up suddenly, have vision changes, and feel really dizzy, plus the rib pain, then you probably need to be checked out. But if you don't have those symptoms and your blood pressure has been normal, it's probably ok.

Have you been having headaches? Seeing stars? Problems breathing? In my 35th week of pregnancy, I went to the doctor for a regular check up and found out I had toxemia/pre-eclempsia. I didn't realize these symptoms (plus pain in rib cage) were linked to that. I just thought it was part of being pregnant. Do you have any swelling? It is worth getting your blood pressure checked, and if it is abnormally high, then you'll want to have a urine test to see if you are leaking proteins. It may be nothing at all, but it doesn't hurt to rule this out. Good luck!

I'm just over 36wks and i have the same feelings. It probably is just baby - i know mine has always been a fan of trying to wedge its little feet into my ribs! lol.
I can usually feel it coming - i feel the moment inching towards my rib cage and i will push against baby (gently of course). This will cause baby to move away its feet away from the ribs (thus saving myself alot of pain! lol). But inevitably baby will try again (must see it as a bit of a game! lol).
I know how you feel about not wanting to call the doc again (i hate to pester mine too many times a day as well.. i feel silly sometimes! lol) but if you are concerned just take a breath and dial - for your own piece of mind :)
Good luck to you and baby! :)

You are paying you doctor to answer your questions -- don't worry, call if you are concerned!
Depends on the 'pain' -- is it more of a sharp cramp feeling? Could be braxton hicks, you just feel it differently. When my oldest got that big, he ran out of room and moved up under my ribs - then he would stretch!! Damn that hurt!! You could actually SEE my ribs come out. So without very specific details, it 'sounds' perfectly normal (painful yes, but normal), but also remember -- when in doubt -- call your doctor!

It is probably just your baby pushing at your rib cage with his or her feet. I went through that with my son for many months. It was the worst when I was sitting down. If you feel that there is a real concern never take anyone else's advice though, just call your doctor.

My friend described exactly what you just did from about 8 months pregnant on. Her little girl really liked kicking her in the ribs, and wedging her toes in between them. I can't tell you for sure that the same thing's happening with you, but that's what it sounds like!

I say your baby is moving and stretching and that is causing that pain. It's pretty cramped in there and in your 34th week I am surprised that you are just now feeling something like that. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

It's probably just from the baby. As it gets bigger your uterus pushes up and it can make you ribs hurt and hard to breathe. It also can disrupt your bowels in a most unpleasant way so that's my guess.

Definitely.
They will jam their little feet in your stomach too...sometimes right when you sit down to have a meal...
They can put their feet in the most uncomfortable of places.

It's probably the baby. I swear my baby used to pinch me from the inside! As long as it's not continuous pain, I wouldn't worry about it.
