simple as the headline, what is the largest state in the world, not the u.s., but the world

so of all of the other countries in the world, none of them except the U.S. have states? i find that hard to believe..

Sorry, your question is too ambiguous. "State" has many definitions. There are many ways to measure "largeness".

But, you left it up to us to pick, so I will go with the state of matter known as "gasseous". The entire atmosphere of earth is in this state.

If you are asking about a state, - and actually mean a country - the largest is Russia.

If you are asking about a country division - province, county, administrative region, federal state - that is a province called Sakha Republic, in Russia.
