No not in the UK, most places shut down or close, but there never has been a compulsory hoilday, think about the Police, Fire service, Prison service Hospitals never close, years ago shops would shut, but they didn't have to, but there are certain times of the day in which they can not open, its like Tesco can open at 10 on a Sunday, and close at 4

Im contracted to work right through the Easter holiday, so I will get 32 extra hours pay for Good Friday and Easter Monday.
It will pay for my next holiday in May.

it's a normal day where i work, and we do shift work too, it's the only day of the year that i will refuse to work!! Not had to so far, i'm off anyway, but will have to work the bank holiday monday anyway. Unlike Christmas it's not hard to get easter sunday off if you want to.

Sorry, but not everyone believes in Easter and most stores are opened. I think the only true holidays that are left are.... hm, none. Everything is opened at one point or another. Personally, I think the one true holiday should be the 4th of July.

No, this is a free country! I think that most countries that celebrate Easter are free to worship, free to work, free to celebrate or not celebrate.
