Whatever you do, don't bail him out of this one. Give your half to your cousin and if your hubby can't come then he's SOL. You need to force him to learn how to save, if you continuously help him out he will have no incentive to save his own money. Offer to help him out by setting up a budget with him so that he can see on paper how much he is allowed to spend and how much he needs to save.

I kinda used to have a similar problem except my boyfriend didn't even work so he was spending my money. You should tell you husband how you feel and tell him that if you guys want to be financially secure for your future as a couple, you are both going to have to make an effort to save money and only make purchases that are necessary. Propose a budget and make one up (check on the internet for good sites). If your budget is $400 a week, you pool in 200 and so does he. Everything else goes into a separate account (maybe have one for him and one for you so he can't get at your money). Agree on no extra spending especially without consulting the other partner first. Then to show him you are willing to accept the agreement, make up something like that you want to get your nails done and say you would like to sit down and see if that can fit into the budget this week. Having a budget means you have to sacrifice something i.e. the Sat dinner out for your nails cuz having a budget means you spend x number of dollars and you stick to that.

Give your half to the cousin and tell the cousin your husband spent his half and good luck getting it back.

what you can do is ask him to open up a joint account where neither of you can with draw any money with out the other that way you are sure to have money when the need arrive both of you can ask your boss or account department to take a certain amount of $ from your pay and will go right to your joint account.

maybe you should consider taking over the finances. also tell him to change or set money aside for a divorce lawyer.
