use slope formula

y2-y1/x2-x1 = m

8-4/x-2 = -2

4/x-2 = -2

4 = (-2)(x-2)
4 = -2x + 4
0 = -2x
x = 0

slope is the difference in the y values divided by the difference in the x values. 4-8 divided by 2-x equals -2. Then solve to find x.
