I pay £1869 annually for 3 bed house in Croydon. Gone up by 5%. Reading the replies I think I should take the biscuit for the cost I'm paying.

I live in a 2 bedroom council house with my wife. I pay £840 per year council tax. My neighbour across the road lives in a 2 bedroom house that has just been built and it is his own. He pays almost twice as much as me for exactly the same services. I think that I pay too much for what I am getting so compared with him I do not have a grumble. Council Tax is legalised theft on a grand scale. He does not have to pay more for anything else so why pay more to have your bins emptied?

Gone up by 4.5%. And they talking about charging extra for taking rubbish away. It's getting out of control.
I pay over a grand a year, And for what. A bit of street lighting and rubbish collection when they can be ars£d.
I don't use the parks or the police or ambulances. And if i did I'd pay when i need them. So why cant i have a council tax rebate.
OH i forgot there two many lazy little sods that cant afford to pay cause there on benefits, so i have to pay for them.

Too much for so little.
Check out Council representatives pay, perks & fraudulent expense claims.
They go unchecked & keep rising.
Look at the state of the roads & the country stops when a little bit of snow falls.

I pay £1890.00 a year. Before anybody thinks I live in a mansion let me tell them I live in a three bed terraced house. A councillor I tackled on this told me the government have reduced their share of the cost of the local authority thus we have to pay more to balance the books and pay for their salaries and expenses. If this were France there would be riots and probably a few councillors hoisted on lamp posts. Why do the British put up with it?.

Mine is £989 per year- gone up by 5% from last year. Disgusting considering i have been told i cant have a wheelie bin - have to apply for a permit to park outside the house i OWN, what the hell do they spend the money on anyway?! cant see any benefits here- man threatened with a gun in my street- police took three hours to arrive. Woman in my sister's street died in a house fire cos the fire brigade took too long!!

No not in the amount I pay but that's purely because we have only been here a year and last year we were paying for it over fewer months. So the monthly payment is the same.

Mine is £117.00 per month rising to £122.27 in April for a two bedroom bungalow classed as a band E property.
The council could not organise a booze up in a brewery,
£12.000 per annum with a committee chairman receiving a further £5.000.
Nice work if you can get it!

Gone up by 6.9% at £104 a month... live in a three bed semi-detached on the outskirts of a town. I hope I get to use all these facilities - I want the police, ambulance and fire brigade to come to my house at least once this year to get my money's worth!
