No. they have been very weak recently, and other teams have been very strong. the three teams for the last 2 spaces are the Islanders and Rangers, and Carolina. Out of those I'm guessing Islanders and Carolina.

Sorry, but they have the highest GP, and that counts against them right now.

well they have won there last two games for 4 points and that helps there chances. it's a real tight race and any of these teams can fall short so its not a No or a Yes. i hope its a yes. they had a better start then all the teams there fighting against but had a terrible second half which let the other teams catch up. know this is the time for who wants it most. the Islanders have falling cause just last week they were in 7th place. the Rangers have been playing good hockey the Canes are a little shaky and the Lighting have lost 3 in a row so as of last week there were 5 teams fighting for the 7th and 8th spot in the East and now its seems that the 6th spot is also available to take. so now you have 6 teams fighting for the 6,7, and 8th final spot. Montreal is only 4 points out of 6th place so not that big between them so 3 of the 6 will make it and i think with the Habs last two games and playing the Bruins again this week will help out allot. YES the Habs will make the playoffs.

I answer this question with a heavy heart.

They aren't "really" in 8th place. Habs have the same amount of points as Carolina and Toronto, (80) but Montreal has played 74 games and Tor. and Car. have only played 73..so they can both jump a point ahead. Also, The Islanders have 79 points, but have played only 72 games....so until everyone is square with no games in-hand you can't really get too excited or depressed.

That being said. I gave up on Montreal beginning of March. I have never spoken ill of my all-time favourite team, (except when they traded Patrick Roy) but I really doubt we'll be in the playoffs. All of our remaining games are against Eastern teams like Ottawa, Boston, Washington, Buffalo etc.....and most of them will have their way with us.....even if Huet comes back. (Mind you Halak isn't too bad......get rid of Abby already)

If by some fluke the Habs do make the playoffs, the only way they will make it past first round is if Gainey, Carbonneau and Muller all suit up. (Or if Begin can kick some more goalie heads).

I say we blow up the team next year, finish last and use our 1st overall pick to get Tavares.

I pray I am wrong and that the Habs bring La Coupe Stanley home soon. As long as we crush the Leafs on April 7th, I'll be happy.....and no more of this shootout nonsense; I want a decisive victory this time boys.

Go Habs Go!

The odds are stacked against them because out of the teams fighting for the last three playoff spots basically in the east you have toronto, montreal, NYR, NYI,Tampa and Carolina and montreal along with Toronto are the weakest in the group with Montreal arguably being weaker than Toronto. I would pick NYI as more likely to take the eighth spot over Montreal but I think neither will make. I really hope Tampa and Carolina drop out and the Isles and Montreal make it but that isn't going to happen.

no the canadiens will not make the playoffs. there are 3 seeds in the eastern that are still attainable: 6,7,8 and the following teams will occupy those spots by the seasons end.

6. Tampa Bay Lightning
7. New York Rangers
8. Toronto Maple Leafs
---------------------------------------
9. Montreal Canadiens
10. Carolina Hurricanes
11. New York Islanders
12. Boston Bruins
13. Florida Panthers

They also have a very weak Goalie and needs Huet Back Cause the one right now is a rookie. And, also they need some players to score. AND GOOO MAPLELEAFS

its tough to say, just cause the eastern conference is still really close really anytime minus the fly guys and the capitals have a chance on making the playoffs, however i dont think the canadiens have the depth to make it to the playoffs, these last couple games will be a tough test for them...i personally cant wait till the season is over tho

lets go flyers

I love the Canadiens and I would love to see them make the playoffs, but I don't think they will. They're up against Carolina..the defending Stanley Cup champions. Carolina will take the last spot.
