I know if someone tells you to "go fly a kite" they're basically telling you to get lost, so i don't know if you can build off of that or something

I remember a song with this title from the movie, "Mary Poppins."

"Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height. Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring..."

This sentence is different from the phrase "Go fly a kite," which in essence means- 'go away, you bother me."

To me, it means to be free and to try something new.
In order to "fly a kite," one must go out into an open area and run and release the kite. Then, hold onto the rod with the string while watching the kite fly in the sky.

It's a fun and relaxing feeling.
