This sort of happened to me and it completely changed everything.
Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

Every Sunday at Mass I see God in front of me.
At the words of consecration the bread and wine become the actual body and blood, soul and divinity of God in the flesh - Jesus Christ.
Actual lab tests have been done on different specimens of the Blood of Christ at different times and from different sources (Eucharist, blood from a statue, blood from the shroud of Turin) and all come back with positive results.
To answer your question, if I had some sort of mystical vision of a heavenly being, YES I would test the spirit to make sure it was not demonic in origin. This is perfectly acceptable and actually recommended by the Church. Satan can perform some pretty fancy magic tricks and many have been deluded by him.

The Bible tells us that God is everlasting. That notice actually capacity with out time. So God has consistently been. The dollar stops with him. speaking for myself, this is impossible to truly understand eternity, yet there you have it. God is the secret from which each and every thing got here. there became not something formerly him. he's the A to Z, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning up and the top. he's the top mover, the unique rationalization for each little thing.

people claim to see god all the time, but what are they really seeing? what does god look like so I'll know it is really him? Why does god have to be male?
I do not believe in any beings' existing that others call god. therefore, I do not have my own god that I believe in. so it cannot be standing in front of me. There is nothing that any god could do in a physical form that would cause me to believe that gods do exist.
And since I am not the one claiming that god or gods exist, it is not my responsibility to prove that he/she/it does exist. Those that do believe in god, haven't been able to provide proof that their god exists.

Have you the eligibility of testing the god or his powers or his proof? The answer is clearly no.Hence you have no option but to believe. But you need not worry as it is not going to happen as HE appears only before the Eligible.

If God appears to me right now in a visual form, then I think the better question is if He will believe me.

If I am absolutely positive that it is God, I would just believe him...
If a person just told me he or she was God I would have my doubts, but God would already know that I would have doubts so he would try to convince me.
However, doesn't the Catholic Church teach that "God is Love"?
And then the preacher gives another meaning to Love, it is a bit complicated.

i am a sceptic in the extreme! so i would highly doubt that i would believe anybody who just appeared infront of me claiming to be god! another point to add is that running tests would be pointless as we have nothing to compare, unless you believe all that stuff in the bible!

If your heart is ready, you'll believe him without any proof. If not, no proof on Earth will make you believe that.

Well, if God came to me, which is unlikely to happen, I would believe Him...Is that so bad??? I would ask Him to bring my mom back to life...
