call legal services in your county-if that doesnt work-contact a lawyer and if your case is good enough you could always go after your ex for the attorney fees

There are a few legal aid lawyers who do work pro bono, which means they will help you now and get paid if there is a settlement.

I would check the terms as they may help you for "free" up front and end up taking 20% of your settlement.

Check the local law society in your area for a list of free lawyers and or legal advice.

Good luck

What state do you live in? That makes a huge difference!!! In Florida, all you have to do is be a resident (not both parties) for six months and then you can do everything for free without a lot problems or jumping through hoops. You can then get a divorce and be done with it in 3 months max. I'm sure there are other states that are also as easy. In NJ and Virginia for example, it is a lot harder, and you basically need a lot more paperwork, money, and a lawyer.

You have already found out that legal services are not free. There are legal clinics in some places where you can go for help at a reasonable cost. Otherwise you can use a legal help program that provided all of the information to do it yourself. You complete the forms and pay the court.

Just find a lawyer and tell him about your finances. Some sort of arrangement can usually be worked out.I know people with the same problems and it all worked out with payment plans.
It may take awhile to find the right lawyer who is willing to wait for all the money but don't give up. Good luck!!

Try a probono lawyer, this means some will do it and get paid later. Or there are some lawyers that you can see for free for say 20mins etc, and maybe give you insight into how they could help. Sometimes there are lawyers on the phone you can ring to get help. Good luck

If you don't have any marital assets or children, then you should be able to go to a community legal clinic to get assistance with filling out the documents. Not sure where you are located, so it's difficult to give you more concrete information than that.

Go to the best law firm in your area and ask them if you can qualify for a "pro-bono" case. Every law firm takes certain cases for Free each year because they can use it as a tax wright off. I did this with my first divorce after taking advice from a friend. It worked! I got the best law firm to represent me for free and I got sole custody of my two kids as a male! Good luck!
