My husdand is from a different country. I have a one year old son that the biological father really doesn't have much to do with. The papers we bith siged at court said that it didn't matter where we lived( my son would live with me.) My lawyer said it meant i could live any anywhere on the world. But my question is how easy would it be to have that change and can they really stop me from moving to my husbands home country. ( the Dad and I are on pretty decent terms.) If yes, what can I do to prepare myself. And I am not trying to keep my son away from the real dad but we might move soon and just wanted some advice!! Thank you for your help. Oh! Where could I look up legal advice on this question?

I am sure u can move anywhere u wish; however, u may be responsible for providing the expense and transportation for visitation with the bio dad...

I think at the very least you need to get written permission from the biological father when taking a minor out of the country. I had to do just that when my son who was a month shy of being 18, my adult daughter and I made a trip to Mexico. I was unaware of that international requirement until about 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave. I was able to get a letter (I had it notarized) from his dad. As for living in another country, I would consult with a family practice lawyer. But I think what other countries try is to prevent a kidnapping of the minor and fleeing . Good luck!

If the dad and you are on pretty good terms then
why not ask if your husband can adopt the child as
that would make it that much easier, you said that
the present dad really does not have that much to
do with the child, so he should come to terms with
you. You know then if he accepts the adpotion part
then your present husband is responsible for the
raising of the child monetarily, not your ex unless
he wants to help. Good luck and hopefully this
will direct you to make it easier to move to another
country with your new husband.

You should go to the court that handled the patternity/divorce and ask them.
