Here's a few ideas...
1) Compare the relationship between Aunt Alexandra and Scout and Jem, with that of Atticus and Scout and Jem.
2) Compare the relationship of Boo Radley with Scout and Jem, and that of Atticus and Scout and Jem
3) Compare/Contrast how Boo Radley and Tom Robinson are considered "mockingbirds"
4) Compare the adults, such as Miss Maudie, Atticus, Mrs. Dubose, and Mr. Ewell's outlook on racism, and the Finch children.
Good luck! :)

Want a really deep one that no one else will come up with (and impress a teacher)? Compare the rabid dog (named Tim Johnson) to the town of Maycomb.
1. Both were "crazy" according to today's standards - the dog with Rabies, the town crazy with the notion that Tom Robinson was guilty & they all wanted to go see him found guilty of...uh...put on trial for...rape.
2. The dog was a menace that came from the outskirts of town. It would cause big trouble for anyone it encountered - similar to, on one level the Ewell Family (lived in the dump at the outskirts of town) and on another level the Ol' Serum gang who came to lynch Tom at the courthouse.
3. The cops wouldn't handle the problem - Heck Tate asked Atticus (Ol' One Shot) to do it - just like handling the case with Tom (especially shown the night of the attempted lynching - Heck told Atticus about that too).
4. Calpurnia was the only one who went to warn the Radley's about Tim Johnson (in the book, not in the movie), just as Atticus is the only one in town who will deal with the Radleys without prejudice.
5. Atticus has to kill the dog, much like he has to "kill" the idea of prejudice in the town. (He was much more successful with the dog).
Cool. Good luck!

I think To Kill a Mockingbird would relate to J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye because both have growing up as a main theme. Throughout both novels, the main characters grow mature as the novel progresses and lose the innocent outlook on life.
