I hate the fact that the gov't thinks it right to take hard-earned money away from me, into a system of highway robbery, named Social Security, it totally contradicts the principals of the Constitution and it is just wrong. It sickens me to think about what they are doing. Can anyone help me to retrieve my (underline) money?

I don't think I can help, but if you fight it I hope you win. The government has "gotten a little too big for its britches", to borrow an old saying.

I take an economics course. As unfair as it may seem right now, this type of system forces you to save money in the end.
The money that you are demanding now... would you actually save it for retirement, or spend it on other things that you want right now? The fact of the matter is, when you are older, you won't be able to work at the same level as you do now and you will need to turn to your savings to continue living a comfortable life. The people that are using social security now had to pay for their grandparents, just as our generation is doing for them.

It is not a perfect system, and despite what you may hear, we won't run out of money for a quite a while-- we just won't have as much as the current generation is getting. If that is what your real concern is, look into the problem more, talk to your congressmen, and see if you can do something about it. We are a democracy after all.

Social Security has kept millions out of poverty for more than 70 years. Social Security has also protected children who had a parent who died while the child was still in school.

People who have been paying into it for years will not stand for getting nothing when they reach retirement age. .When you reach retirement age, young people will still be paying into Social Security, so there will be something there to pay benefits to you.

On paper, the Social Security System is in much better financial shape than the rest of the government. There is a problem however - Every penny that goes into the Social Security Trust fund comes from FICA taxes on workers' wages that is supposedly earmarked for their retirement. As a result of reforms to the system back in 1983, the system is currently building up a surplus - which was to be used to help fund the retirement of the baby boom generation - but the rest of the government has been borrowing and spending it as fast it comes in with no plan in place to pay it back when it is needed to pay benefits. This borrowing has masked the true size of the deficit and has made it easier for President Bush to get tax cuts for the rich. - The Highway robbery is not the Social Security tax - It is the looting of the Social Security trust fund by Congress.

I'll bet when you are retired you will be very happy to see those checks..... You will be very happy to have Medicare as well.
But the money you are putting in is being used to pay for people who are retired right now. There has been and continues to be a lot of money left over each year. Congress uses that money for other stuff, like defense and education. That's why there is no huge surplus sitting there for the future. If they actually saved the surplus you would have a really sweet retirement.

Come on now, you know that your (and my) money is needed to support all the old people collecting it now who have already used up any and all money they ever contributed. Your money is gone! You'll never get it back! The most you can ever hope for is privatization, where your money will stay in your accounts, but Democrats rail against all attempts to do that as the end of the world. Vote carefully, maybe this wonder may someday come to pass. Or not.

Sorry, but you money was sent out to the old dude who lives next to you.

Your money is going to be earned by some, yet to be born, person, if the system doesn't go bankrupt first.

It is an MLM, Pyramid, Ponzi scheme that is going to run out of money, raise taxes and reduce benefits over the next couple of decades.

The president had wanted to privatize SS to some degree, but the politicians would rather you pay 12 or so % of your income into this scheme so they can use that money to pay for other schemes. Remember the 'Lockbox'? There isn't one.

You are paying so people like your parents can retired without having to work until they are 98. When you have kids, they will be paying for your's as well. Everything comes back in the end. Your effort will be rewarded....well, if it's still around.
