I have to do a compare and contrast essay for the book To Kill A Mockingbird. I can compare anything in the book to anything else in the book or to other books or movies. I don't even know where to start ot what to compare. Can someone please give some ideas and a good place to start. I really need to help.

You have several different options to work with by the sounds of your question. A couple ideas that seem easy to me would be to compare and contrast the book and the movie in their entirety. However, that is kind of vague and very expansive. Another idea might be to choose two characters and compare and contrast their movement through the book. You might talk about how each is different from the other and how they bring seperate tones to the book, but in the end they are both needed to complete the story. You could compare the parenting methods of Atticus to those of other adults in the book. You could compare the treatment of blacks and white, or even the differences (and similarities) between racism in the book and racism today. Anyway, feel free to email me if you need any other ideas. I hope this helps! Good luck!

Scout at the beginning v. Scout during the final chapters

Scout as a dynamic character in the book reflects the author's message/purpose through her changes throughout the book. Usually compare and contrast essays want you to go back to the author's purpose.

i would also suggest looking for books or movies that handle the same subject matter of racial tensions and/or that offer different viewpoints of the same time in history in the US.

Compare then and now. Will an attorney still work for barter? Would a jury still convict Tom? Some things are still the same. Small towns still know each other and their business. Charity is still tempered with understanding, some of the people you know still have hidden talents, and many people don't toot their own horns. Have fun with whatever strikes your fancy. Look at Boo Radley, the entertainment options mentioned, and the work ethic to name just a few.

try starting on the contrast side.

He whom you hate the most you can relate to the most.
