I took it at about 3PM and had my daughter the next morning at 5AM. Everyone is different though my friend took it 3 x's and it never worked.

I did the same thing with my first child.. I had the most horrible cramps (like 5 total) about 10 minutes apart and they all lasted for probably 3 minutes a piece. I still didn't go into labor though. Just miserable pain on the toilet all night. :( I was 38wks along.
It works for some and not for others. If your cervix isn't ripe (slightly dilated) then it wont work at all.
Try having sex, taking primrose oil tablets, eating egg plant. All of those help to. You could also go for a long walk (with a partner just incase).
I wouldn't rush off to the hospital just yet though. Contractions need to be at least 2-3 minutes apart before you go to the hospital. If this is your first child chances are you'll be in labor for quite a while. (sorry :( ).
Hope that helps!

In my experience...all castor oil speeds up is your bowel movements.
You'll go into labor and deliver when you're supposed to...
It's been 40 weeks...what's another day or two??
Stop drinking gross oil...lol, have a cookie, put your feet up, relax...it will be a long time before you can do all that at one time again.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

You honestly should not be trying to home induce labor! You have an estimated due date to ensure the health of the baby and development. The lungs of your little one are the last organs to fully develope and rushing this process is not a good choice. That is why unless there are health risks to mom or baby they try to wait as long as possible before they set up induction.
Your body will naturally go in to labor and it will happen when everything is ready. Your doctors due date is just an estimate {guess} so they could be off a little bit of time... I went 2 wks and 3 days late with my DD, they were setting up induction for her just as I went in. They broke my water and along it went.
So do yourself the favor and just let the little "cook" a little longer, I know that being that big and feeling the movement, sometimes painful you are done and want to hold the little one. And you will, just be patient.
Best thing to help yourself is to relax, get as relaxed as you can...then your body will tell you where it is!

The only thing the castor oil is doing is making have to go #2 and giving you cramps. Walk around for a while that should do it.

I didn't know that castor oil worked on labor. I could have told you that it worked real well on constipation. Hell, even breathing the exhaust of a racer using castor oil in the engine had people running for the toilet.

castor oil has no effect on speeding up labor. You probably did more harm than good in causing upset stomach with diarrhea it sounds like. Make sure you start drinking water to keep from getting dehydrated and harming yourself and the baby. You better call your Dr. right away and tell them what you did.

The Castor Oil probably won't do much for your labor... but if you go into true labor within the next day or so, at least you won't have to poop- b/c you are getting it all out of your system now! (thanks to the oil...) good luck!

It may NOT work at ALL. You prolly should go to the hospital now. Did you think of the harm that COULD be done to your baby by you trying to hurry things along? Your baby could drop down on the way to the hospital and IF it has the cord or placenta in the way you COULD cause serious complications for yourself AND the baby! Well it's too late to STOP you now because you've already drank it so D=GO NOW!!! I hope nothing goes wrong!

I honestly think it depends on the person. I took some before bed, at like 11 p.m. and by 5 a.m. the next day I had my son.
