I don't want to buy or read the book but I thought it was a bunch or crap too but when I stated that question a book fan gave me a lecture on how I should read the book before I judge it.

Its about the power of positive thinking to transform your life. If you truly want something to happen, think it will happen, and according to the book it should. It's about a total attitude change that we are the masters of our life and the things that happen to us, happen because we willed it to be so, whether good or bad.
My own personal take, kinda hokey. Does a person suffering from Stage 4 cancer actually want that to happen or will it to be so. If that person was the master of their destiny, would they have wanted cancer in their life? But that's my opinion. To each their own.
Plus, if it works, I wouldn't be bustin my butt in nursing school, I'd be sipping drinks on a beach living the life of an independently wealthy person! lol.
* I too talked to some people that read it, and it was just what I assumed it was about. For once, my assumptions didn't make a you know what out of me.. lol. But that was sound advice, I did not read it. It is always a good idea to read something before you judge.. so take what I said as an opinion not a sound judgement since I didnt' read it :)

I have to disagree with Oprah here. It's more New Age rot about how to think positive and get the things you want in life. If it worked, I would be sitting here counting my 370 million dollars from the Mega Ball drawing a few weeks ago. More books to sell and make money for the author - a few people will write with testimonials saying OMG it worked! But mostly that is sheer luck - not The Secret at work. Save your money. Pax - C.

The Secret is mostly based on a forgotten 1910 classic - The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles. The book itself is free! Just click here to go get it. http://www.free-sogr.wotsnext.com

As a teacher of The Secret for many years, as well as being a profession psychic, I now recommend The Secret DVD to everyone. http://www.psychic-junkie.com/does-the-secret-really-work.html

The first 20 minutes of "The Secret" has been uploaded to google video and seems to be authorized by The Secret LLC as a free preview. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1279084763732767570&q=secret&hl=en
