A pulmonoligist does not like to diagnose infants with asthma. My son,now6, had a lot of respitory problems and are family doc said it was asthma. When I took him to see the specialist at 4 months old he said it was possible that he would out grow it. He did to by the age of 2. We did use a nebulizer machine with him...if your really concered about your baby's breathing maybe suggest one of these.

It cant be asthma in your newborn. My daughter has whats called upper respitory conjestion. thats what causes the weezing and coughing. My doctor says this should go away as she gets older but can be diagnosed at about 2 years of age.
I wouldnt be too concerned about it until you consult with your pediatrician.
A Nebulizer works great for it. Maybe also use a humidifer as your baby sleeps.
