I really think they should. Only because someone else got about 224 best answers and i 219 in the wrestling category doesn't mean i am NOT a top contributor from that category. They took my beloved tag away and now no one knows who the hell i am and where i come from. It's annoying. Having one is just like not having one at all. ONLY BECAUSE I MOVED FROM FIVE TO SIX DOESN'T MEAN I AM NOT A TOP CONTRIBUTOR. I think they should keep it anyways because you have contributed at least something in the past.. BUT IT'S BETTER THEY GET RID OF THE WHOLE THING.

The craziest thing about this whole "top contributor" badge thing is many who SHOULD have one, don't. And many who probably shouldn't have one do. I don't think they need to do away with it, they need to "fix" it!

They way they currenly have it set up, you can answer dozens of questions in lets say "polls and surveys" with dozens of 1 word comments and BANG you are a top contributor with 100's of questions answered and a best answer percentage of 7%! WOW! You go man!

In the mean time, a person who has worked hard to contributre "quality" answers in a catagory like "wrestling" and is ON THE LEADER BOARD for wrestling, who is level 6, doesn't have a badge for that contribution!? Um, Yahoo, THAT'S MESSED UP!

I am not against the "Top Contributor" badge. In fact I'd like to see more badges. How about a "Leaderboard" badge or a "Quality Answerer" badge? My good friend Aspen Dreamer (a level 7 answer) even suggested a "Diverse Answerer" badge. I just think there are WAY TOO MANY people with a badge and many of them, not all, really aren't contributing anything of a quality nature to this group.

And no, I don't feel I am resentful because I don't have a badge. I don't have enough time in my life to contribute more than a few answers a day, so I don't expect that I may ever earn one. However, it would be nice for Yahoo to add a feature to show "how close" you maybe are to earning a spot on a leaderboard or to a badge. Let's say you aren't on a leaderboard but are working towards one. Anyway to track your "best answers" without going though a list of 100's on answers and counting them up? THAT'S the kind of stuff I wish the Answers Team would work on.

To all of those who have gotten a badge or gotten on a leaderboard by contributing quality answers to this site, congratulations on a job well done!

If you are a top contributor, I think you should have to meet certain criteria. Either have answered a lot of questions...maybe past a certain level, and/or have higher than average top answer percentage.

There are many people that didn't answer every question they come across, but are knowledgeable in every answer they have given.

Just my 2 cents here...

As for your case, I think you are a top contributor to this community. Even if you have the badge or not, I see you this way.

no, they shouldn't get rid of it, but they should change how it is applied. I think it's too easy to fool the system into getting the badge. Instead, it should be something awarded monthly or something. based on the most best answers in that month (say the top 10% of people with the highest number of best answers that month). And then at the end of the month everything gets recalculated and you can lose it.

It doesn't really matter one way or the other to me. Badge or no badge, big deal. It's not like we get a prize or anything. But I do agree with you. It doesn't make you any smarter or better.

Yeah, maybe they should get rid of it -> I mean they've already got the points and levels and all.

People can see your a saddo by your points and level - you don't need a plaque under your name.

Um, I hate to break this to you but they did not take it away from you. You still got the badge honey. Now you can cry tears of joy.

your absolutely right, they should get rid of it because of people like you that have to complain and ruin it for everybody else. at least you realize you have no life...admitting the problem is always the first step.
