The prefix "co" means "together". "Cooperate" means to work together. "Co-exist" literally means to exist together, and while the word doesn't insist it's a peaceful co-existence, it is implied when one uses it. Example: "It has been found that baby tigers and baby chimpanzees can co-exist in the same nursery in zoos."
