I was induced and it still took two more days until my daughter was born. She was 10 days late. I didnt go into painful labor until my water broke (they had to break it manually). If you go to the hospital to be induced, you will be in the hospital when you go into labor. To induce you, they stick an IV into the back of your hand with some sort of medicine or something in it that is supposed to speed up the start of labor. They also strap some sensor things around your belly to monitor the babys heartbeat and the frequency and intensity of your contractions. You'll be able to move around but you wont be able to leave the hospital with all that stuff hanging off you.

They are inducing you because you are so close to your due date well next week will be 40 wks, however unless you are a fast progresser they will be inducing you.
Your cervix needs to soften and shorten to allow the baby to fit through, not to mention if you have not already you have to lose your mucus plug.
Induction is NOT fun, some say they can handle it, some {like myself} could not handle it...so just be prepared for the worst and it might not be so bad, epidurals are the highest rated pain relievers for induction!

When they say they will induce you they are inducing labor. HTey are making labor come on so you can have the baby. So yeah you will be in labor at the hospital.
