My car starts slow. No matter what time of day it takes like 5 seconds to start and when it does it sounds like the start of cars that were broke down in the movies. I have newer battery and good alternater as well as starter. Is there and thing I could put into my gas or something? Could it be fuel injectors, Iv also noticed that the car sputters when Im cruising.

Do you remember the last time your car had a tuneup? [spark plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor (if it has one), new air filter?]

If you can't recall this info, it's likely overdue. If you take it to a garage, make certain they replace all of these items. Most only replace your spark plugs and call that a "tune up".

Garbage.

The wires, and [if your car has them] a cap and rotor are as-vital for delivering proper spark to the cylinders and they wear out as often as plugs do, sometimes sooner than the plugs will.

Beyond that, I'd suggest trying a few tanks of BP or Shell Premium fuel [91-94 octane, depending on where you live], along with a bottle of Chevron's Techron Fuel System Cleaner, available at any auto parts store or Wal-Mart for around $6. All of this should return your car to like-new performance.

Good luck~

Your car shouldn't sound like those cars in the movies. Something's wrong.

Batteries lose amperage over time. If you start with a low-amperage battery (bargain battery), it doesn't take long to get from mediocre to just plain bad.

When I buy a battery, I always tell the tech to put as much amperage on that battery pedestal as will fit in my car.

Having a battery with lots of umph makes the starter turn faster, and the engine start quicker. Your starter will last longer, and so will your battery.

Take your car down to Interstate Battery and have them do a load test on the starter. This will reveal the problem. Whether it's the battery or the starter, this test will tell you. The best part is the test is free.

I can't imagine that your sputtering problem is related to the sluggish starting. Check the usual suspects for rough running: Air cleaner, coil wire, dist cap electrode scale, fuel filter, spark plugs.

Good luck!

Hi this has Air Flow Meter wrote all over it.
The AFM controls the smoothness of the car by controlling the air intake. If the AFM goe's faulty then you get juddering, hestitating and basically bad running.
Its definetly worth checking out.
Goodluck
