my best friend and I attend many games during the season, but detest being labled a puck bunny or ice tart. we know the rules and penalties, and yes we do find some of the players attractive, but does that make us a fan or a bunny? to me its about the sport its self. with the sex appeal of the athletes being secondary as it were.

It's an unfortunate stereotype, alas ... women in general are considered to be not as knowledgeable about sports, therefore they're at the games to check out the players. So the stereotype goes, anyway!

People that pay attention can tell the difference between the puck bunnies and the women that are real fans of the game. The real fans are the ones that you can see dressed appropriately for a venue with an ice-covered floor and they're into the game, possibly yelling like crazy and cheering at the right moments. The puck bunnies are the ones scantily dressed, looking all over the place rather than at the game, running up to where the scratches are sitting to try and hang out with them. In our hometown arena, my g/f and I have seats a few rows in front of where the scratches sit and we see this all the time.

The real fans will see you for what you guys really are - fellow real fans - instead of caving in to the stereotype and assuming you're bunnies. Hope that helps!

I think most consider puck bunnies as the type that go because Crosby is hot or something like that. As a matter of fact I don't consider females at a hockey game puck bunnies.

I say ignore the label and enjoy the game. If your ever at a Canes game I'll let you buy me a beer.

Hockey fans are hockey fans, there are really no borders between them except the teams they support, and even then its not a big deal. If you're getting called that its because there are naive or immature people attending hockey games (just sift through the normal group that attends) who are just jealous that you know what an offside or (the now non-existent) two-line pass. Its unfortunate that such stereotypes exist in hockey, but being labelled an 'ice tart' isn't as bad as being one of those psychotic hockey moms that frequent my local arenas. Personally I like seeing females at hockey games, or jsut taking interest in sports for that matter, since most of my friends who are girls just seem to detest sports in general, its nice to find one who can actually hold there own in a hockey conversation.

I've been a Sharks season ticket holder for 8 years. I've encountered my fair share of morons at games who think that the women are just there for the eye candy. Ignore them. You know why you're there, and the seats are too damned expensive not to have a good time, thankyouverymuchmrbettman.

True story: during the 1999 - 2000 season, I was cursed with a businessman/know-it-all in the 4 seats behind me. He regularly brought clients to the games and would then spend much of the game trying to impress them with his knowledge of the game. I did manage to hold my tongue, until about halfway through the season, when he was rattling on about how the Sharks coach (Daryl Sutter) had two brothers who were playing for him: Ron and Gary. I just couldn't resist. I hope I lost him that account.

Because people that go to a Hockey game are just a subset of people in the world who will make assumptions and speculations about you as a person without knowing you. I have been going through a lot of that the past week here just based on the questions and answers I have been contributing in this section -- and I'm male.

THEY are the ones who are narrow-minded, not you.

I know it's easy to say "ignore them and don't let it get to you", but ignore them and don't let it get to you.

i guess just stand up for youself, or take pride in who you are and not who other dumb drucken guy fans think you are =)

I think the "bunnys" would be people who like 1 person because their "hott" and dont even know the rest of the team! They're the ones who make the stupid signs like MARRY ME .... and wear those pink jerseys. They think they're a die heart fan when they probably can't even name every player on the team...not even 10. haha.

I feel the same way. I cannot stand going to the games and people insisting that the only reason why I go is because I am so attracted to the players.

Oh they are hot!!! There is now doubt about it!!! But I know almost every rule and pretty much all the strategies to the game yet when I go to play my own game with the men's league I am in the guys on my team pick on me for going to the games to check out the players.

My suggestion is just to stay home. And don't go to the games at all.
