REPORT HER CONDUCT TO THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AGREEMENT WITH HER ON THE JOB AS WELL AS THE JOB SPECIFICATIONS. ANY ADDITIONS SHOULD ATTRACT EXTRA CHARGES. DONT LET HER TAKE THAT MONEY FREE.

Yeah, didn't that feel good? It might actually be worth $3,000 to your sense of self-worth.

In the future, have a written contract for the work, and itemize it as much as possible, down to the last piece of tile or whatever you are going to do. Be very specific with the customer that any changes or additions will require additional expense, and know that possibly it will require you to rewrite the contract. That way you have legal recourse, and there should be fewer hard feelings.

This woman will probably talk about you to her friends, but believe me, they know exactly the kind of person she is. It might even get you a few new jobs. Everyone has wanted to do what you did just once. Now just don't go back and apologize to her. If she's likely to call and ask you when you're coming back to finish her bathroom, sit down beforehand and prepare a list of the problems she has caused so that you can make her understand why you left. Get an agreement that she will allow you to finish the bathroom as planned.

Good for you, and good luck to you.

OK, so now you bailed out and lost a wad of money. Learn from this and next time. every little detail should go into the contract and if the work is not listed in the contract, no deal.
I work in a hospital and believe it or not, people do this very same thing there. Patients actually ask for pedicures and ask if they can get an appointment with a salon if we have one. They think since they are paying fot health care, we should treat them with a gourmet meal, pedicure, hair salon. We keep snacks in a refridgerator for the pts after hours when the kitchen is closed. Family members go in and help themselves to the patients nite time food pantry. They eat all the ice cream, sandwiches, milk, juice, crackers and soups, They ask for pops and everything under the sun. If we dont get a handle on them and lock them out of the kitchen we will feed the whole family for days. They have the nerve to come in and ask where we keep the snacks. Its never ending.
You have to get a back bone and set the rules down or everyone in town will be running over you.

Well I would call her and let her know why you did what you did. And that as soon as she pays you what she owes you so far then you will be happy to finish the job! You def. should have had some sort of contract obligated the both of you to what you agree to.

Know that walking out wasn't the answer and you should have let her know the problems previous too even though it felt good lol but it can open you up for law suits if your not careful.

I do think she owes you at least $2500

I don't blame you one bit!! Criminy Sakes!! If you had known she was going to be so sneaky you would have asked for the money as you went. Next time, do that, I guess.

Well it's up to her sounds like. Hope you have a buddy who knows a fair lawyer. You might decide to sue over the work and materials.

I would have walked out at the same time you did. Good Luck!! Hope it straightens out for you and you get paid for all your work. She was trying to squeeze as much out of you as she could get. Hard game for her to try and play with a man. Stay Cool.

I would start having very detailed contracts with my clients if this happened.

By the way, was there a question in that post? I couldn't find one.
