Killing it is simple. Go to a good L&G Center and get Scotts Moss Control Granules (good for 5,000 sq ft) or if you have a little you can get RTU products like Safer Moss Killer. Both have high % of potassium which is effective at killing the moss and not harming the lawn or other plants.

The hard part is to keep it from coming back. Moss likes (1)dampness (2)shade and (3)acidic soil. If you kill the moss and 2 or more of these conditions remain the moss will likely grow back again.

Moss is a shade and nutrient problem. Take a soil sample to a garden center. They will tell you what, and how much, to add. Also, trim your trees to eliminate the shade.
