When I first considered birth control I was looking for pregnancy protection and something to help with my cramps. My 1st birth control was the depo shot. I loved it, I was on it three yrs straight and had no periods at all. I only had to worry about it 4 times a yr. I finally got off of it when I started noticing the 40lbs it put on me. Weight gain is not a side effect for everyone one though. If it wasn't for my weight gain, I'd still be on it today. I'm now taking Seasonique/Seasonale. I get a period once every three months, but it's hard for me to remember to take them. Just talk with your doctor because what may be right for me may not be right for you.

it's different for everyone, your body will react to the hormones a little bit different from other women's. Your doctor should be able to discuss all the options with you and the both of you can decide which kind will work best. There are pros and cons to every method.
