I've never heard of an HND, but have been in some sort of construction work for 20 years. Take the classes, pay attention, get the degree or whatever the end result is. But get every bit of practical and field experience you can get. You will gain an incredible amount of respect if you are managing tradesmen and at least have some knowledge AND experience of what they do
