You may be experiencing "Braxton-Hicks" symptoms which are contractions that resemble labor contractions. Please note, that if you are within a month of your due date, you should consult your doctor if you are not sure. The difference between false labor and true labor is that each time you have a session of contractions with true labor, is that the contraction sessions become increasingly closer together. For instance, the first one you have is five minutes apart from the second one, then you see that the next session is only three minutes apart from the last one, then the next session is only two minutes apart from the last one. That change, is an indicator that you are truly in labor. So it is important to time them. You still need to call your doctor's office and describe clearly what your symptoms are. They can always have you pop in and see if you're dilating.

If your pains are 3-5 minutes apart you really should go to the doctor. At 100% effaced that baby will be coming and chances are you are way more dialated by now. You don't want to have that baby at home, do you? Sometimes you feel labor more in the back, like a back ache. Go to the hospital. Good luck.

You can be in labor and not know it. I was induced with my first and I only knew I was having contractions because I was hooked up to a monitor and could see them on the screen. With my second I knew after my water broke and my son was born less than 2 hours later. I never felt any false labor. It could be false labor, but I would call your doctor and see what he says. Don't listen to the people who say if you are in labor you'll know it, because that's not always true. Good luck.

If your dilated to a 3, your probably getting ready to go into labor. call your doctor and have a bag packed just in case. When I went into labor with my twins, I had menstrual like cramps, no contractions and was a 5 before I knew I was in labor. With my first born, it hit at 430am and at 1030am he was born.

To me it odes not sound like false labor, if they are 3-5 minutes apart you need to call your doctor. You may be lucky and not have really bad contractions, they do hurt more once your water breaks or is broken, but I would not chance it, call your Dr.

You may very well be one of the lucky ones. Unless you want to give birth in your car, I'd go get it checked out. On the other hand it could be Braxton Hicks (false labor, or practice)contractions. I think though, that it's time to say congratulations!

Try drinking some water.....dehydration can be causing that. In my opinion even early contractions are uncomfortable. Sounds like braxton hicks. Real contractions get longer, stronger and closer together.
Never hurts to call the Dr........that is what we pay them for.

That sounds like the real thing to me.. some women can tolerate the pain differently.. you may be one of those.. get to the L&D right now.. get checked out. 3cm and 90% you should have been in the hospital already. Good luck.

It sounds like braxton hicks. They are really intense when you are this diliated. It sounds like you will go very soon though so I would keep timing them and keeping track of the intensity. My doctor told me I my attitude would change when I was in real labor. I was already in tears so I thought she was in idiot. But honestly your attitude does change.
