I've had my male betta for nearly a year and I recently noticed some weird discoloration between his bottom fin and tail fin. It looks like a white fuzziness which makes me think it's columnaris, however he doesn't have it anywhere else on his body. He's also still active and still eating well. Can anyone help?

It could be fungus, or columnaris. It's not ich as suggest by a poster as that's small salt like dots. I'd get a med like Jungle Labs Fungus Eliminator (not Clear) that treats fungus, and columnaris. The other possibility is velvet which is more gold/rust colored under a flashlight.

Could be a type of fungus. A lot of fish are known to get it. Ask your local pet supply store for drops you can put in the bowl to remove this. Even if this is not the case, the drops are inexpensive and harmless to the fish.

i'd try putting tetracycline (TTC) in his tank, it should clear it up in no time...TTC can be purchased in any pet store that sells fish and they'll be able to give u specific instructions on how to use it. TTC is amazing, its originally a perasite medicine but its used for multiple sicknesses and it clears up any type of fungus in no time. People even use tetracycline to help keep them healthy.

Flex (columnaris) or it could be a fungus.

I'd start him on maracyn/maracyn II (or kana) asap in case it is flex. Feel free to shoot me an im if you want some more help. ^^
