Start off with electric guitar. Most people who can play and comprehend guitar, are able to play bass guitar much easier than the other way around. With bass, you play single notes. With guitar, you form chords and single notes for lead. I suggest listening to some early classic rock like the band Cream. They had super strong guitar with Eric Clapton and one of the most influential bass guitarists ever in Jack Bruce. You can easily pick out the sounds and each instrument when you listen to them. Bruce has his bass solos from time to time, but it's mostly Clapton. So you should be able to choose which one you prefer with sound. Some of their songs include "Sunshine of Your Love," "White Room," and "Crossroads."

It depends on what sound you like. I play the guitar. I have an electric and acoustic. The guitar is primarily the leading instrument in rock music. The bass is more of a background instrument although there are a few bands that have a bassist that plays more lead than a guitar. More of the riffs that you hear in songs are usually the Electric or Acoustic guitar. Any music that you listen to that is rock or similar, you can hear a bass or guitar.

grab a buddy and have him show you a few chords or notes. go to your local guitar shop and ask to see every bass and electric guitar in your price range. play each one until you are sick and narrow down your choices to your top 2 or 3 faves of each. once you start playing guitar, bass is real easy to pick up. you already have a comfortable feel fro the fret board and you know the notes. just have to get used to the bigger strings. but bassists are harder to come by and you'll have an easier time getting in a band playing bass. and the best part is you odn't even have to be all that good.

The world needs more bass players. Everyone and their brother knows how to play guitar. You'll be more valuable to prospective bands and such as a bass player than a guitar player. But then again bass payers don't get the props that their guitar counter parts get.

Yup! You can go to a local music store, and try out both!
You should play whichever you think sound better. I personally started with the guitar, but ended up picking up a bass to mess with.

They are one of a kind matters. Playing guitar is one of a kind than gambling guitar hero. The evaluation does not paintings. Some folks don't seem to be as musical adept at gambling devices as others

Go to your local Guitar Center...and check them out personally. See witch on you like better. See which one feels better when your holding it and whatnot. My personal opinion would be a Guitar. I feel better playing it and I'm having fun doing so!
