It depends on how long you have been off work and if you are in high school, college, or have been sick a long time. The best thing is to tell the truth and go to an employment agency and let them help you find a job.

Death or a very serious illness. Preferably your own, or that of a close relative. Otherwise you should be at work. Then you wouldn't have to spend time thinking of an excuse to use. See all the stress you save by being honest?

Death? That's the only good one I know of, I don't believe in taking off work for no reason, where you have to "think" of an excuse.

You're sick, you need a vacation, or Your grandma died and you need to attend her funeral. If none of the above work, risk it all and have your friend tell 'em your dead.
