most of the people I know, including myself own a car. In most parts of the US a car is really a necessity. Where I live the bus service sucks and unless you want to spend half a day walking or biking in nasty windy, rainy, cold weather to get to work, you need a car. I can see how people in large compact cities might not need one, but not where I live that's for sure.
