It mainly depends on the severity of the injury. Whether it is a complete or an incomplete fracture. Usually they use rods, screws, and plates to reset bone fractures in ORIF surgery. I was in a car accident a year ago and broke my foot, femur, humerus, and my radial bone came through my arm and I only had a cast on my foot and I had metal rods and plates everywhere else with splints holding them in place. So it just depends.
