Of course it is obvious that African Americans heavily favor Democrats in most elections. I believe the last presidential election was 88-12 (correct me if I'm wrong)..but has the lives of blacks really improved under democrats?
Have the ghettos been eliminated? Have schools in african american communities improved? Has gang violence gone down? Have blacks gained more access to higher level education?
Discuss, and bring facts. I'm really interested to see what you folks have to say.

Republicans have been in complete control of the government for 6 years and both houses for what 10 years?
All of those conditions still exist so why would African Americans think that the Republicans would be any better?
Maybe African Americans vote heavily Democrat because they believe that the Democrats are better for working class people.

I don't think Democrats represent African Americans in any positive way. Black leaders could really make a difference but don't seem to want to.
PS wow now the Dems are responsible for high home ownership in the African American population?
I thought the Republicans have been in control for the last
14 years!? Our lender told us that they were more willing to take risks on lower income families because of the Bush administration.

If there was a moderate, non-racist, conservative party, then you might have a leg to stand on.
But untill Republicans stop talking down to blacks, telling them that their oppinion is uninformed, saying they're just not educated enough to get it, disenfranchising voters accross the country, and running ads that play the racist card, all your ideological nonsense will get you nowhere.
Republican's don't speak for African Americans, or at least 90% of them.
Your "gospel" is another man's ploy. And black voters are, again, to smart for that.

They haven't called us the n word and made us fear to ride in the front of the bus. They haven't had all white juries acquit obvious murderers and others who commit assault. They don't celebrate the confederate flag, a symbol of treason and hatred against US citizens.
The old republican party ended slavery and fought for civil rights. My how times have changed.
Some (mainly repubs) have yet to figure out that the biggest and longest running complaint is against those in positions of authority who conspire to keep others down simply because they look differently than they. This goes from racists cops to racists execs (all cops and execs are NOT racist). All I demand is you don't get in my way. Other than that, I will always make my way through life.
Thankfully, the hate filled bigots are becoming a dying breed. Thankfully, throughout my life, people of every ethnicity extended a helping hand to me as I did to them.
