Ok I am 38 weeks, utterly MISERABLE, constant painful contractions but STILL only 2cm dilated... I am ready to pull my hair out. Now all of a sudden my appetite is TOTALLY GONE. I can't seem to eat just about anything, and least of all enjoy it. It feels like I am eating paste.

Also, I am so emotional and bitter I feel my husband won't understand it. How to get over this anger over the misery and lack of labor? Any ideas? I am PISSED. But my hub is a decent guy, but can ANY guy understand this horror??

Thanks, any words will help.

I forgot to add that I am having a lot of diarhia too. Does that mean I might be any closer to labor? (I HOPE, I HOPE...)

I had this too. It started for me at 36 weeks, even went to the hospital because my contractions were so strong and regular. They stopped my labor.. grrr!!!! And I had constant contractions from then until my doctor induced me at 38 weeks. When is your next apt? Talk to your doctor about induction at this point. You are considered full term now. Some doctors won't induce at 38 weeks, but some will. I was induced because I was dilated to a 5, 80% effaced, and my BP was high.

Try sticking to a liquid diet right now. Just eat a little at a time. Sometimes when we get really close to going into labor, your body doesn't want food. It transfers the energy from digestion to labor. You are in early labor, it's just taking forever!!!

Try walking. Got take a nice long walk. You can try sex. I know that it probably doesn't sound good right now, but semen has a chemical in it that can intensify labor, if you are just starting into labor, or can help get it going if you aren't. Orgasm for you can make your contractions intesify and will be more productive.

You can try Evening Prime Rose Oil. You can get it at health food stores. Take two capsules, poke a hole in each one, at the top, and insert both into your vagina, up by your cervix and then go to sleep. This will help soften the cervix and can get things going.

You can also try acupressure. The best spots are between your thumb and first finger. You have the extra skin right there. Find a sore spot, it will be tender. Hold that spot with your thumb and first finger of the other hand for about 15-20 seconds. Then let it rest for a minute or two and then do it again. There is also a spot 2 finger widths up from your ankel bone. There is an indentation on either side of your ankle, where you can feel your tendons narrow down. There will be another sore spot there. Press and hold of the same amount of time, and then release the same as the other spot.

What ever you do, DON'T TRY CASTOR OIL OR NIPPLE STIMULATION!!!!! Castor oil will just make you sick and you are already not feeling well. Nipple stimulation can bring on severe contractions that do nothing to help your cervix open.

Walking and sex are really your best bet right now. If you water breaks though, don't have sex!!! But until then, or until your contractions are more regular, try these things. Good luck!!! I hope something works for you!!

I know how you feel. I will be 38 weeks tomorrow and feel like I am going crazy. I am so ready to have my son here. I still have an appetite but I have heard that shortly before going into labor some women loss there's. I keep having strong and somewhat painful contractions but nothing regular. I guess BH. Just try to explain to your husband how you are feeling. He should understand.
