Drive-up ATM buttons are marked with braille because federal regulations require it. To be specific, section 4.34.4 of the ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (Appendix to Part 1191, 36 CFR Chapter XI, issued pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) says, "Instructions and all information for use [of an automated teller machine] shall be made accessible to and independently usable by persons with vision impairments."

If you want to know more reasons why, you can read the article linked below.

Because some people walk up to ATMs and not drive up to them. Blind people also walk up to them. If you didn't brail, then there would be discrimination.

If you can drive up to the atm, you can walk up, too, right?

Or maybe the person drives the blind person to the atm. The person could be in the backseat.

[Falling out of chair with laughter!] Perhaps if no cars could be heard a blind person wouldn't know that they've stumbled upon a drive through ATM, and thought that they were visiting a standard one.

ATM manufacturers make only one type of machine, accessible to all users. Some of them happen to end up as drive-up machines, others will end up indoors.

ROFL..LMAO. No seriously, in case a cab driver, personal chauffeur or other driver, has a blind passenger that rides in the back seat. Good Question!!

So when blind people drive up to an ATM, they can get their money. Blind people can see when it comes to driving, but when they need their money, they snap out of it and cant see anymore.

Good, question, I don't know why, maybe if a blind person is being driven around and they don't want to give out their info, they can use the machine themselves.

I think you mean braille. I used to wonder about that but someone told me it was for a passenger in the car that is blind.
