Representative Markey from Mass. referred to Gore as a prophet during hearings today. Is this going too far? Jesus is considered a prophet. Muhammad is considered a prophet...Abraham...Moses... but Al Gore?

A prophet is one who predicts the future. Prophets of old looked to the stars-- and more recently at tea leaves or Tarot cards. Al Gore predicts the future based on scientific findings which nonbelievers of creationism are always advocating. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You either believe in science or you don't.
Watch AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH in its entirety before you decide. I didn't believe it until I saw it. I thought he was a bag of hot air. Better still, study some of the research online or at the library. (Al Gore has done all of this for you, and he travels from city to city trying to get people to listen.)
This is a critical problem, and it is not one man's fight. He has devoted many years to get us to listen. Some people may not want to believe it, but it is happening. We need to be setting an example for the rest of the world by stepping up and devising a way to slow global warming.
You know, everyone loved the movie ARMAGEDDON. You could believe that a meteor was hurtling toward earth, and we had to act at once to destroy it. Why then,when a similar event is happening in real life, do we want to turn our backs and discredit the messenger? For that matter, why shouldn't we have a modern day prophet. Think about it!

Al Gore is a self serving politician. If he couldnt benefit from Global warming and advocating it do you realy think he would be? Look at the man do you realy think hes serious? No way is he a prophet. He is doing something anyone can do. you or I would be just as useful.

I don't see how he compares, prophets are usually used in a religious sense, I don't see him trying to spread the word of God or saying he's been contacted by God. So it's an improper use of the word at the least.
