??? Kidnapping, attempted murder, etc... they're OK with that? Will the US Navy be recruiting convicts in the prisons next?

Lisa Nowak has been in the Navy for several years now. And up until her recent news-making episode, she's apparently been an outstanding officer.

They have to figure out something to do with her until her legal issues are dealt with. It's possible that she may end up being court-martialed and discharged, but for right now, they have to follow the law-- which considers Nowak innocent of any charges brought against her until proven guilty.

I think most everyone who is knowledgeable about this situation considers that Nowak's career in the Navy is most likely over, and that as soon as the legalities of her situation are finished, she will leave the military for civilian life.

This whole sad situation probably could have been avoided if there wasn't a stigma, both in the Astronaut corps and in Naval Aviation, to seeing a counselor or therapist. If Nowak could have gone to a counselor without possibly jeopardizing her career, someone might have been able to get her to get help before this sorry episode took place.

I think the whole thing is really sad. Saddest of all for her children, for whom this must be an absolutely hellish time.

Way to stay current there. Here's a news flash for you: SHE WAS ALREADY A NAVY CAPTAIN BEFORE SHE WAS ARRESTED!!!!

Next time, read beyond the headlines.
