Disconnect the ground terminal on the battery. You will need ramps to get the front wheels a minimum of ten inches of the ground. The starter is located under the passenger foot rest. It bolts either directly on the block or bell housing underneath the exhaust manifold on the left side of the motor.
Carefully remove the positive red battery cable from the top of the starter solenoid. There are two smaller wires that need to be removed from the solenoid. Note the terminal positions of the two small wires. There are two bolts holding the starter to the block remove them and the starter. You may need to twist the starter in odd positions to miss the exhaust pipe to remove it. Stay with it and you'll do fine. Good luck.
