If I want to erect 6ft fence (or the maximum legal limit), how will it work if my patio is raised? Do I measure from the patio up? With the garden, as the ground is lower, do I take my measurement from that? I have no problem with the height staggered, as long as ol' nosey next door cant see in and I need to get it right coz shes a right "do it by the book" kinda pain in backside. Plus I'm looking forward to asking her to remove that DREADFUL ivy thats climbed over my fence and eating into my wall!!!!

you have to go from the ground when it comes to putting up a fence a pain for me to as i have raised decking so dont get much use from the fence near the decking,as for the ivy you can by law cut it yourself if she wont as its entering your land/property.if this woman carrys on being awkward or stupid about it contact the local council.dont you just hate neighbours like that .lol.good luck with it all.x

Your rear backyard can not have a fence over 6 foot severe and your front backyard can not have a fence over 3 foot severe. The community council will make you rip it down in the experience that your neighbour complains.

with regards to your fence, the planning department at your town hall should be able to advise you.

with regards to the ivy, explain to your neighbour the damage being caused to your property by their ivy, and politely ask them if they could prune it back.

if they refuse, you can as far as i am aware, by law do it yourself as long as you return any trimmings to your neighbour.
