The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics failed because they were not on favored trading nation status like the even more Red, Chinese Commies who are, and have not failed thanks to their American comrades.

The UNION of Soviet Socialist Republics _did_ in fact, fail.
It failed because socialism does not work in reality. Sure, it looks good on paper but so does communism. Neither system has a snowball's chance in Flatrock so long as there is a human being involved with it.
USSR failed
NAZI Germany failed
Cuba is failing
Red China is failing..it just doesn't look like it yet, but it is. They are actually capitalists but with an oppressive government that is approaching fascism.

The Scandanavian countries are democratic socialists, not quite the same but very similar. They are doing '''ok''', but not great since mandated redistribution of wealth stunts growth.

Read some history, if you can find an old book that has not been 'revised' into today's liberal pap.

Actually, communism works quite well...look at China and Vietnam today. Of course, they aren't really socialist, and they are becoming less communist all the time.

Of course, communism has only managed to bring repression and authoritarianism everywhere it has spread, but it sure has been quite effective in instigating social change and in motivating people to work hard (so would you if you had a choice of work or die).

I hate communism as a form of government, but you're right, it is not the spectacular failure all of the schoolbooks make it out to be. China and Vietnam are growing like crazy an they are going to be a serious economic threat in about 5-10 years.

I'm not a communist or a socialist, but I know that it fell because it didn't have what we have. A representative government.

That's good you can't believe them today, but the USSR failed over a decade ago.

Look at present day China. They're slipping back towards capitalism every day, and are making massive amounts of money by doing so.

It failed because neither communism nor socialism (which are both economic models) can work if they are forced.

Communism nor socialism only work if they are voluntary.
The USSR tried to force them through a totaltiarian regime.

You are an idiot if you think that socialism/communism works.
ie: try waiting in line for a piece bread or meat.
