Yes you can. Guys truly love to have their space and where as you might mean your showering him with attention as a way of showing interest, he can feel weirded out and that can actually make him want to create a distance from you. Don't be too aggressive, try a more subtle approach. Flirt a little and see if he responds to that but don't crowd the guy. They love the thrill of the hunt,so throw out a little hint to let him know you're interested, then wait and see if he takes the bait.

Yup, you sure can. It happens a lot too. Maybe he had feelings for you at the beginning, but by giving him attention and over powering him, you kinda scared him off. Not saying this is any fault of your own. It just happens. Keep being frineds with him. If it was meant to be, it'll happen, if not you have a good friend. But back off on the attention. I know it's hard, but it is doable, I promise. Good luck!

Dont call him for a few days let him call you (dont even call him UNTILL after he calls you) if you are around him be witty dont be all nice..gotta let him know you run it and he doesnt but everyonce in awhile say something sweet to throw him off..once you run him off too much he wont come back so be careful if you really like him...do not let him know your thinkin this on the inside dont even give him the satisfiaction he is on your mind. work it mama!

YES you cant make him want you you have to fight for him but dont push him away play hard to get be like whats up what u been up to and then let him finish the conversation off u know and let him come to u dont go to him cause that shows him that you want him bad or just flat out tell him hey i realy like you and i want to be yo gal for real no lie and see what happens

Being clingy is never good. You have to give him his fair share of space or he will start to feel like he cant get rid of you. Showing a little extra attention over other guys should be just enough.

Absolutely. Guys are very into things that challenge them. If you are around all the time and are constantly trying to hang out with him, he will feel he has conquered you, and look for something else to conquer. You have to resist sometimes and do your own thing. That is sexy to guys. It makes us want to compete with whatever else you have going on and at the same time we realize that you are your own person that is into her own things, we respect that.
