It's a matter of basic human rights. Personally, if I had a daughter who was that retarded, I would prefer her to be sterilized to prevent from having children that she couldn't possibly adequately care for or raise. Now, my husband says NO ONE can have anyone sterilized -- even parents of retarded people -- regardless of the severity of their mental incapacity. The option to have children is an inalienable human right. The logic seems lopsided, but that's the way it is.

that's truthfully an thrilling question. in the beginning, getting to understand disabilities do no longer inevitably make a man or woman unintelligent or no longer able to reason. (in actuality, Winston Churchill became dyslexic!) Schizophrenia would not make a man or woman unintelligent, the two, and if it is top dealt with, its victims may additionally think of very rationally. additionally, those with milder forms of autism, which incorporate Asperger syndrome, would properly be sensible and rational and might lead efficient lives. (it is believed that Newton would have had Asperger's syndrome, as a count of actuality.) All that being stated, i do no longer think of that folk who're mentally retarded could be allowed to vote, by way of fact they are mentally nevertheless babies, and there's a criminal balloting age, in view that's thought that purely human beings interior a definite age variety are able to questioning rationally adequate to vote for the splendid applicants or proposals.

Reality shows they shouldn't. But I think it will never happen because we live in the country where every prohibition leads to a law suit... I just feel sorry for the kids.
